2002 – 2010   Since 2010: personal research
2001   Cover of David Hockney’s last book on art "Secret Knowledge", edited by Times and Hudson, which was published in the U.S.A., England, Brazil, Portugal and Hungary.
1987   Continued working as portraitist in doing portraits of not only writers, but all types of illustrious and famous personalities, like for example Hans Hartung, Jean Rouch and Pol Bury, etc.
1986   Gérard was chosen by the French Ministery of Culture amidst 90 photographers of all nationalities living and working in France to represent French Contemporary Photography. This project was edited and published in the form of a CD-Rom.
1982 – 1986   Gérard started to specialise in portraits of illustrious writers like Simone de Beauvoir, Michel Tournier, James Baldwin, David Lodge and many more.
1982   Joined SIPA Press photographic agency in Paris and worked there for the next 20 years.
1980   Gérard worked for the first time as a free-lance photographer in covering the war situation in Kurdistan on the Iranian/Iraq and Syrian border.
